Leanne – Episode 9: “Chipmunk in the Drywall”

It’s sister versus sister in one of the most emotional episodes of the season.

Leanne and Carol’s decades of simmering sibling tension bubble up after Daddy John casually hands down Grandma Loretta’s bunny dishes to Leanne, not Carol. That porcelain inheritance might be the pettiest of plot devices, but it kicks off something really honest. Carol moves out, and for the first time this season, we see what these sisters look like apart. It’s not great. Even Josie, usually aloof, urges Leanne to fix things.

Meanwhile, Mary is deep in guilt mode over her kiss with Tyler, leading to another brilliantly awkward encounter at the park. Mary and Carol forming a secret pact (over fridge cleaning!) is a low-key highlight.

The final act is all warmth. Leanne and Carol reconcile with a tearful contact lens rescue, and Daddy John ends the episode doing the only thing he knows how, yelling at Leanne to get out to the driveway so he can teach her how to change a tire. Which is, of course, his way of saying “I love you.”
