If you weren’t convinced that Resurrection had its mojo back, “Call Me Red” should seal the deal.
This is easily the most ambitious episode of the reboot so far. Dexter infiltrates a secret society of serial killers disguised as “Red,” and the result is half Eyes Wide Shut, half Criminal Minds on bath salts. It’s glossy, dark, and oddly glamorous, and it works way better than it should.
Peter Dinklage’s Leon Prater is a scene-stealer. He’s sinister with a smile and might be one of the most compelling non-killer villains the show has ever had. The vault of trophies? The dinner party with themed killers? The Lady Vengeance intro? It’s camp, it’s creepy, it’s everything this series does best when it leans in.
Meanwhile, Harrison is starting to crumble under the pressure. Batista’s tightening the noose, and the sins of the father are piling up fast. The final moment, Dexter revealing himself to his son, is perfectly timed and emotionally loaded. A full-circle shocker that lands just right.
And let’s be real, the blood slide callback? That’s chef’s kiss nostalgia done right.
