Twisted Metal – Season 2, Episode 1: “PRSRPNT”

The ride is back and the road is even more ridiculous.

Season 2 roars into gear with more of what makes Twisted Metal so much fun. From the moment we get a nod to the original PlayStation game, it’s clear this show hasn’t lost an ounce of its offbeat charm. Explosions, car chases, and jokes you probably shouldn’t laugh at but totally will are all here within the first ten minutes.

John Doe (Anthony Mackie) is stuck in New San Francisco, but you can tell he’s not ready to settle down. He finds a map, a mystery from his sister’s past, and the itch to escape. Meanwhile, Sweet Tooth discovers a rival killer named Big Baby and sets out to prove nobody is more theatrical than he is. Watching him coach his new sidekick Stu in murder techniques is somehow both horrifying and hilarious.

Quiet is offscreen for much of the episode, but her influence is felt. Dollface is making big moves and preparing to tear down the city’s walls. The stakes are higher this season, and the setup is solid. By the end, we’re introduced to Calypso, who unveils a new competition that promises chaos and wish fulfillment. If Season 1 was about survival, this season is all about the contest.

This is a strong opener, filled with ridiculous action and surprising emotion. The world keeps expanding and it’s clear the ride is far from over.
